महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-81, verse-17

यं मन्येत ममाभावादस्याभावो भवेदिति ।
तस्मिन्कुर्वीत विश्वासं यथा पितरि वै तथा ॥१७॥

17. One should place trust in someone whom one believes would cease to exist if one were oneself absent, just as one would trust a father.
