महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-215, verse-15

स्वभावात्संप्रवर्तन्ते निवर्तन्ते तथैव च ।
सर्वे भावास्तथाभावाः पुरुषार्थो न विद्यते ॥१५॥
15. svabhāvātsaṁpravartante nivartante tathaiva ca ,
sarve bhāvāstathābhāvāḥ puruṣārtho na vidyate.

sarve bhāvāḥ tathā abhāvāḥ puruṣārthaḥ na vidyate
15. sarve bhāvāḥ tathā abhāvāḥ ca svabhāvāt eva
sampravartante nivartante ca puruṣārthaḥ na vidyate
15. All existents and non-existents, by their own intrinsic nature, proceed and cease in the same manner. There is no such thing as human endeavor (puruṣārtha).
