महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-202, verse-12

स्वयंभूस्तानुवाचेदं निसृष्टोऽत्र विधिर्मया ।
ते वरेणाभिसंमत्ता बलेन च मदेन च ॥१२॥
12. svayaṁbhūstānuvācedaṁ nisṛṣṭo'tra vidhirmayā ,
te vareṇābhisaṁmattā balena ca madena ca.
12. svayambhūḥ tān uvāca idam nisṛṣṭaḥ atra vidhiḥ
mayā te vareṇa abhisaṃmattāḥ balena ca madena ca
12. svayambhūḥ idam tān uvāca mayā atra vidhiḥ nisṛṣṭaḥ
te vareṇa balena ca madena ca abhisaṃmattāḥ
12. The Self-existent one (svayambhū), Brahmā, said this to them: 'A method (vidhi) has been devised by me in this matter. They (the demons) have become arrogant due to a boon, and due to their strength and intoxication (mada).'
