महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-6, verse-34

स हि देवोऽत्यगाद्देवांस्तपसा विक्रमेण च ।
तस्माच्छरणमभ्येष्ये गिरिशं शूलपाणिनम् ॥३४॥

34. sa hi devo'tyagāddevāṁstapasā vikrameṇa ca ,
tasmāccharaṇamabhyeṣye giriśaṁ śūlapāṇinam.

34. Indeed, that god surpassed the other deities through his asceticism (tapas) and valor. Therefore, I shall seek refuge in Girisha (giriśa), the trident-bearer.
