महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-6, verse-12

अश्वत्थामा तु संप्रेक्ष्य ताञ्शरौघान्निरर्थकान् ।
रथशक्तिं मुमोचास्मै दीप्तामग्निशिखामिव ॥१२॥
12. aśvatthāmā tu saṁprekṣya tāñśaraughānnirarthakān ,
rathaśaktiṁ mumocāsmai dīptāmagniśikhāmiva.
12. aśvatthāmā tu samprekṣya tān śara-oghān nirarthakān
ratha-śaktim mumoca asmai dīptām agni-śikhām iva
12. tu aśvatthāmā tān nirarthakān śara-oghān samprekṣya,
asmai dīptām agni-śikhām iva ratha-śaktim mumoca
12. But Aśvatthāmā, having seen those floods of arrows rendered useless, released his chariot-weapon at it, like a blazing flame of fire.
