महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-6, verse-26

मानुषं कुर्वतः कर्म यदि दैवान्न सिध्यति ।
स पथः प्रच्युतो धर्म्याद्विपदं प्रतिपद्यते ॥२६॥

26. mānuṣaṁ kurvataḥ karma yadi daivānna sidhyati ,
sa pathaḥ pracyuto dharmyādvipadaṁ pratipadyate.

26. If a person performing human action (karma) does not succeed due to divine will, then, having deviated from the path of his intrinsic nature (dharma), he encounters misfortune.
