महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-214, verse-10

न तु केवलदैवेन प्रजा भावेन रेमिरे ।
यद्बभूव मनःकान्तं कर्मणा स चकार तत् ॥१०॥
10. na tu kevaladaivena prajā bhāvena remire ,
yadbabhūva manaḥkāntaṁ karmaṇā sa cakāra tat.
10. na tu kevala-daivena prajā bhāvena remire yat
babhūva manaḥ-kāntam karmaṇā sa cakāra tat
10. But the subjects did not rejoice merely by divine influence (daiva) or disposition; whatever was pleasing to their minds, he achieved that through his actions (karma).
