योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-118, verse-4

एवं विहन्यते लोकः स्वार्थेनेति प्रदर्शयन् ।
मद्गुर्मद्गुरुतां यात इत्येवं स्तौति दुर्जनः ॥ ४ ॥
evaṃ vihanyate lokaḥ svārtheneti pradarśayan ,
madgurmadgurutāṃ yāta ityevaṃ stauti durjanaḥ 4
4. evam vihanyate lokaḥ svārthena iti pradarśayan
madguḥ mad-gurutām yātaḥ iti evam stauti durjanaḥ
4. durjanaḥ evam pradarśayan iti svārthena lokaḥ

4. A wicked person praises in this manner, thereby demonstrating that people are ruined by their own self-interest, [as if saying,] 'A cormorant has attained the state of a great spiritual teacher (guru).'
