कारणं जीवितस्येह प्राणचिन्ता समाश्रिता ।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
इत्युक्तवन्तं विहगं भुशुण्डं पुनरप्यहम् ।
जानन्नपीदमव्यग्रः पृष्टवान्क्रीडया मुनिम् ॥ ९ ॥

Here, in this life, the contemplation of the life-force (prāṇa) was embraced as the cause of existence. Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: After he had spoken thus, even though I knew this, I, unperturbed, playfully questioned the sage Bhusunda, the bird, again.
