अविक्षिदुवाच ।
अहं तवैकस्तनयो ब्रह्मचर्यं च मे नृप ।
न मे पुत्रोऽस्ति पौत्रस्य दर्शयामि कथं मुखम् ॥२४॥

ahaṃ tavaikastanayo brahmacaryaṃ ca me nṛpa .
na me putro'sti pautrasya darśayāmi kathaṃ mukham.

Avikṣit said: "O King, I am your only son. Furthermore, due to my practice of celibacy (brahmacarya), I have no son. How can I then show you a grandson's face?"
