मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
अथ साऽविक्षितो माता वीरा वीर प्रजावती ।
पुण्येऽहनि समाहूय प्राह पुत्रमविक्षितम् ॥१॥

Mārkaṇḍeya said: "Then, she, Avikṣit's mother, who was brave and had heroic progeny, summoned her son Avikṣit on an auspicious day and spoke to him."
