महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-39, verse-29

ततः शिलाशितैस्तीक्ष्णैर्भल्लैः संनतपर्वभिः ।
छित्त्वा धनूंषि शूराणामार्जुनिः कर्णमार्दयत् ।
स ध्वजं कार्मुकं चास्य छित्त्वा भूमौ न्यपातयत् ॥२९॥
29. tataḥ śilāśitaistīkṣṇairbhallaiḥ saṁnataparvabhiḥ ,
chittvā dhanūṁṣi śūrāṇāmārjuniḥ karṇamārdayat ,
sa dhvajaṁ kārmukaṁ cāsya chittvā bhūmau nyapātayat.

saṃnataparvabhiḥ chittvā dhanūṃṣi śūrāṇām
ārjuniḥ karṇam ārdayat saḥ dhvajam
kārmukam ca asya chittvā bhūmau nyapātayat
29. tataḥ ārjuniḥ śilāśitaiḥ tīkṣṇaiḥ
saṃnataparvabhiḥ bhallaiḥ śūrāṇām dhanūṃṣi
chittvā karṇam ārdayat saḥ asya dhvajam
ca kārmukam chittvā bhūmau nyapātayat
29. Then, Arjuna's son (Ārjuni) harassed Karna with sharp, stone-sharpened lances (bhallā) that had curved joints, after severing the bows of the heroes. He (Ārjuni) then cut down Karna's standard and bow, making them fall to the ground.
