महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-153, verse-6

ते स्म युद्धेष्वभज्यन्त त्रयो वर्णाः पुनः पुनः ।
क्षत्रियास्तु जयन्त्येव बहुलं चैकतो बलम् ॥६॥
6. te sma yuddheṣvabhajyanta trayo varṇāḥ punaḥ punaḥ ,
kṣatriyāstu jayantyeva bahulaṁ caikato balam.
6. te sma yuddheṣu abhajyanta trayaḥ varṇāḥ punaḥ punaḥ
kṣatriyāḥ tu jayanti eva bahulam ca ekataḥ balam
6. te trayaḥ varṇāḥ yuddheṣu punaḥ punaḥ abhajyanta sma tu
kṣatriyāḥ eva jayanti ca ekataḥ bahulam balam [āsīt]
6. Those three social classes were repeatedly defeated in battles. But the Kshatriyas alone were victorious, and on their side was abundant strength.
