महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-43, verse-32

मनसस्तु गुणश्चिन्ता प्रज्ञया स तु गृह्यते ।
हृदिस्थचेतनाधातुर्मनोज्ञाने विधीयते ॥३२॥
32. manasastu guṇaścintā prajñayā sa tu gṛhyate ,
hṛdisthacetanādhāturmanojñāne vidhīyate.

32. Thought is the essential quality of the mind, and it is perceived by intellect. The conscious element, residing in the heart, is constituted for the apprehension of mental processes.
