महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-67, verse-28

रत्नदानं च सुमहत्पुण्यमुक्तं जनाधिप ।
तानि विक्रीय यजते ब्राह्मणो ह्यभयंकरः ॥२८॥
28. ratnadānaṁ ca sumahatpuṇyamuktaṁ janādhipa ,
tāni vikrīya yajate brāhmaṇo hyabhayaṁkaraḥ.
28. ratna-dānam ca su-mahat puṇyam uktam jana-adhipa
| tāni vikrīya yajate brāhmaṇaḥ hi abhayaṃ-karaḥ
28. jana-adhipa,
ratna-dānam ca su-mahat puṇyam uktam hi abhayaṃ-karaḥ brāhmaṇaḥ tāni vikrīya yajate
28. And the offering (dāna) of jewels is declared to be greatly meritorious, O ruler of people. Indeed, a Brahmin who bestows fearlessness performs a Vedic ritual (yajña) by selling those (jewels).
