अनिष्ट्वा च महायज्ञैरकृत्वा च पितृस्वधाम् ।

And if you undertake the ascetic life without having performed the great Vedic rituals (mahāyajña), without having offered oblations to the ancestors (pitṛsvadhā), and without having offered at sacred places (tīrtha), then [you will face a consequence].
