महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-116, verse-7

रहस्यात्मसमां दृष्ट्वा राजा राजीवलोचनाम् ।
न शशाक नियन्तुं तं कामं कामबलात्कृतः ॥७॥
7. rahasyātmasamāṁ dṛṣṭvā rājā rājīvalocanām ,
na śaśāka niyantuṁ taṁ kāmaṁ kāmabalātkṛtaḥ.
7. rahasi ātmasamām dṛṣṭvā rājā rājīvalocanām
na śaśāka niyantum tam kāmam kāmabalātkṛtaḥ
7. After seeing the lotus-eyed Madri, who was as lovely as himself, in a secluded spot, the king, compelled by the overwhelming power of (kāma) desire, was unable to restrain that desire (kāma).
