कुन्ददन्त उवाच ।
प्राग्दृष्टं स्मृतिमायाति तत्स्वसंकल्पनान्यतः ।
भाति प्रथमसर्गे तु कस्य प्राग्दृष्टभासनम् ॥ ३९ ॥

prāgdṛṣṭaṃ smṛtimāyāti tatsvasaṃkalpanānyataḥ ,

Kundadanta said: 'What was seen previously comes into memory (smṛti), and that memory arises either from one's own mental construction or from another source. But in the very first creation (sarga), for whom does the manifestation of previously seen things occur?'
