यद्यत्कचति सद्रूपं स्वाङ्गं सर्वात्मनः स्वतः ।
तदभ्यस्तार्थसादृश्यात्स्मृतिरित्युच्यते बुधैः ॥ २५ ॥

Whatever manifests as a real, inherent part of the universal Self (ātman) spontaneously, that, due to its similarity with meanings ingrained through repeated practice (abhyāsa), is thus termed 'memory' (smṛti) by the wise.
