योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-67, verse-8

असत्येव कृतारम्भा हेम्नः कटकता यथा ।
प्रतिभासविपर्यासमात्रकारणकोदया ॥ ८ ॥
asatyeva kṛtārambhā hemnaḥ kaṭakatā yathā ,
pratibhāsaviparyāsamātrakāraṇakodayā 8
8. asatī eva kṛtārambhā hemnaḥ kaṭakatā
yathā pratibhāsaviparyāsamātrakāraṇakodayā
8. yathā hemnaḥ kaṭakatā asatī eva kṛtārambhā pratibhāsaviparyāsamātrakāraṇakodayā [asti],
[tathā sā māyā asti].
8. Just as the state of being a bracelet, though fundamentally unreal, begins its apparent activity in gold, and whose manifestation arises merely from an erroneous perception, so is this (māyā).
