वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-69, verse-17

परिपालयमानस्य राज्ञो भूतानि पुत्रवत् ।
ततस्तु द्रुह्यतां पापं यस्यार्यो ऽनुमते गतः ॥१७॥
17. paripālayamānasya rājño bhūtāni putravat ,
tatastu druhyatāṃ pāpaṃ yasyāryo'numate gataḥ.

17. May the sin (pāpa) incurred by those who bear malice against a king (rājñaḥ) who protects his subjects (bhūtāni) as if they were his own sons, then fall upon him, the one by whose consent the noble one (ārya) departed.
