Having thus spoken to her of wicked conduct, Gautama, the greatly effulgent and great ascetic, abandoned this hermitage (āśrama). He then performed severe austerities (tapas) on a beautiful peak of the Himalayas, a place frequented by Siddhas and Charaṇas.
