मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-27, verse-4

मदालसोवाच ।
वत्स राज्येऽभिषिक्तेन प्रजारञ्जनमादितः ।
कर्तव्यमविरोधेन स्वधर्मस्य महीभृता ॥४॥

vatsa rājye'bhiṣiktena prajārañjanamāditaḥ .
kartavyamavirodhena svadharmasya mahībhṛtā.
4. madālasā uvāca vatsa rājye abhiṣiktena prajārañjanam
āditaḥ kartavyam avirodhena svadharmasya mahībhṛtā
4. Madālasā said: "O son, a king (mahībhṛt), having been consecrated (abhiṣikta) in the kingdom, must, from the very beginning, strive to please his subjects, without violating his own intrinsic nature (svadharma)."
