महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-16, verse-22

पाण्डुसृञ्जयपाञ्चालाञ्शरगोचरमानयत् ।
ममर्द कर्णस्तरसा सिंहो मृगगणानिव ॥२२॥
22. pāṇḍusṛñjayapāñcālāñśaragocaramānayat ,
mamarda karṇastarasā siṁho mṛgagaṇāniva.

22. Karna brought the Pandavas, Srinjayas, and Panchalas within the range of his arrows. He crushed them with great force, just as a lion overwhelms herds of deer.
