महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-138, verse-15

सर्वास्तु सेना व्यतिसेव्यमानाः पदातिभिः पावकतैलहस्तैः ।
प्रकाश्यमाना ददृशुर्निशायां यथान्तरिक्षे जलदास्तडिद्भिः ॥१५॥
15. sarvāstu senā vyatisevyamānāḥ; padātibhiḥ pāvakatailahastaiḥ ,
prakāśyamānā dadṛśurniśāyāṁ; yathāntarikṣe jaladāstaḍidbhiḥ.
15. sarvāḥ tu senāḥ vyatisevyamānāḥ
padātibhiḥ pāvakatailahastaiḥ
| prakāśyamānāḥ dadṛśuḥ niśāyām
yathā antarikṣe jaladāḥ taḍidbhiḥ
15. tu sarvāḥ senāḥ,
pāvakatailahastaiḥ padātibhiḥ vyatisevyamānāḥ prakāśyamānāḥ niśāyām dadṛśuḥ,
yathā antarikṣe taḍidbhiḥ jaladāḥ [dadṛśuḥ].
15. But all the army divisions, being spread among by foot soldiers who held fire-and-oil torches in their hands, appeared shining in the night, just as clouds appear with lightning in the sky.
