महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-117, verse-24

अवश्यभावी वै योऽर्थो न स शक्यो निवर्तितुम् ।
दैवं पुरुषकारेण को निवर्तितुमुत्सहेत् ॥२४॥

24. Indeed, that which is bound to happen cannot be averted. Who would dare to avert destiny (daiva) through human effort?
