महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-159, verse-23

सम्यक्चासौ महावीर्यः कुलधुर्य इव स्थितः ।
पितॄन्देवांस्तथा विप्रान्पूजयित्वा महायशाः ।
सप्त मुख्यान्महामेधानाहरद्यमुनां प्रति ॥२३॥

23. samyakcāsau mahāvīryaḥ kuladhurya iva sthitaḥ ,
pitṝndevāṁstathā viprānpūjayitvā mahāyaśāḥ ,
sapta mukhyānmahāmedhānāharadyamunāṁ prati.

23. samyak ca asau mahāvīryaḥ kuladhuryaḥ
iva sthitaḥ pitṝn devān tathā
viprān pūjayitvā mahāyaśāḥ sapta mukhyān
mahāmedhān āharat yamunām prati

23. And that greatly powerful one, renowned, upholding his family's honor as if he were its chief, properly worshipped the ancestors, the gods, and the brahmins. He then performed seven principal great sacrifices (mahāmedha) facing the Yamunā river.
