महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-99, verse-28

पुष्पैः सुरगणान्वृक्षाः फलैश्चापि तथा पितॄन् ।
छायया चातिथींस्तात पूजयन्ति महीरुहाः ॥२८॥
28. puṣpaiḥ suragaṇānvṛkṣāḥ phalaiścāpi tathā pitṝn ,
chāyayā cātithīṁstāta pūjayanti mahīruhāḥ.
28. puṣpaiḥ suragaṇān vṛkṣāḥ phalaiḥ ca api tathā
pitṝn chāyayā ca atithīn tāta pūjayanti mahīruhāḥ
28. My dear (tāta), trees honor the multitudes of gods with their flowers, similarly the ancestors with their fruits, and guests with their shade.
