महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-75, verse-15

गां ददानीति वक्तव्यमर्घ्यवस्त्रवसुप्रदः ।
ऊधस्या भरितव्या च वैष्णवीति च चोदयेत् ॥१५॥
15. gāṁ dadānīti vaktavyamarghyavastravasupradaḥ ,
ūdhasyā bharitavyā ca vaiṣṇavīti ca codayet.
15. gām dadāni iti vaktavyam arghya-vastra-vasu-pradaḥ
| ūdhassyā bharitavyā ca vaiṣṇavī iti ca codayet
15. arghya-vastra-vasu-pradaḥ gām dadāni iti vaktavyam
ca ūdhassyā bharitavyā ca vaiṣṇavī iti codayet
15. The giver, presenting water for offering (arghya), clothes, and wealth, should declare, 'I give a cow.' And one should ensure the cow has a full udder and should announce, 'She is Vaiṣṇavī (related to Viṣṇu).'
