सतामर्थे सम्यगुत्पादितो यः स वै कॢप्तः सम्यगिष्टः प्रजाभ्यः ।
तस्मात्पूर्वं ह्यादिकाले प्रवृत्तं गवां दाने शृणु राजन्विधिं मे ॥३॥

3. satāmarthe samyagutpādito yaḥ; sa vai kḷptaḥ samyagiṣṭaḥ prajābhyaḥ ,

That which is properly acquired for the sake of the virtuous is indeed well-ordained and well-performed for the subjects. Therefore, O king, hear from me the method of cow-giving (dāna) that was established in ancient times.
