महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-8, verse-11

आकिंचन्यमनाशास्यमिति वै नहुषोऽब्रवीत् ।
कृत्या नृशंसा ह्यधने धिगस्त्वधनतामिह ॥११॥

11. ākiṁcanyamanāśāsyamiti vai nahuṣo'bravīt ,
kṛtyā nṛśaṁsā hyadhane dhigastvadhanatāmiha.

11. ākiṃcanyam anāśāsyam iti vai nahuṣaḥ abravīt
kṛtyā nṛśaṃsā hi adhane dhik astu adhanatām iha

11. nahuṣaḥ vai iti abravīt,
"ākiṃcanyam anāśāsyam (bhavati).
" hi adhane nṛśaṃsā kṛtyā (bhavati).
iha adhanatām dhik astu!

11. Indeed, Nahuṣa said, 'Destitution is undesirable.' For cruel deeds are certainly found among the poor. Fie upon poverty in this world!
