महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-228, verse-29

प्रोक्तं तद्व्यक्तमित्येव जायते वर्धते च यत् ।
जीर्यते म्रियते चैव चतुर्भिर्लक्षणैर्युतम् ॥२९॥

29. proktaṁ tadvyaktamityeva jāyate vardhate ca yat ,
jīryate mriyate caiva caturbhirlakṣaṇairyutam.

29. That which is born, grows, decays, and dies – that, endowed with these four characteristics, is indeed called the manifest (vyakta).
