महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-192, verse-12

दैवं तु परमं मन्ये पौरुषं तु निरर्थकम् ।
धिगस्मत्पौरुषं तात यद्धरन्तीह पाण्डवाः ॥१२॥
12. daivaṁ tu paramaṁ manye pauruṣaṁ tu nirarthakam ,
dhigasmatpauruṣaṁ tāta yaddharantīha pāṇḍavāḥ.
12. daivam tu paramam manye pauruṣam tu nirarthakam |
dhik asmat pauruṣam tāta yat haranti iha pāṇḍavāḥ
12. (Duḥśāsana continued): "Indeed, I consider divine will (daivam) to be supreme, and human effort (pauruṣam) to be useless. Shame on our human effort, dear brother, because the Pāṇḍavas are taking away everything here."
