That [darkness of ignorance] is destroyed by the sun of knowledge, which arises from the understanding, 'I am pure consciousness (cit-mātra), all-pervading, and undefiled (nirañjana),' realized through the apprehension of the self (ātman) as abiding in the self (ātman) alone.
