योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-43, verse-17

न हरेर्न गुरोर्नार्थात्किंचिदासाद्यते महत् ।
आक्रान्तमनसः स्वस्माद्यदासादितमात्मनः ॥ १७ ॥
na harerna gurornārthātkiṃcidāsādyate mahat ,
ākrāntamanasaḥ svasmādyadāsāditamātmanaḥ 17
17. na hareḥ na guroḥ na arthāt kiṃcit āsādyate
mahat ākrantamanasaḥ svasmāt yat āsāditam ātmanaḥ
17. kiṃcit mahat hareḥ na,
guroḥ na,
arthāt na āsādyate.
ākrantamanasaḥ ātmanaḥ svasmāt yat āsāditam (tat eva mahat).
17. Nothing truly great is obtained from Hari (Viṣṇu), nor from a spiritual teacher (guru), nor from material possessions. Whatever is achieved by the self (ātman) from one's own inner being, for one whose mind is thoroughly controlled, that is the great attainment.
