योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-4, chapter-29, verse-7

यद्वद्दूरगतं वस्तु नादर्शे प्रतिबिम्बति ।
पदार्थवासना तद्वदनभ्यासान्न जायते ॥ ७ ॥
yadvaddūragataṃ vastu nādarśe pratibimbati ,
padārthavāsanā tadvadanabhyāsānna jāyate 7
7. yadvat dūragatam vastu na ādarśe pratibimbati
padārthavāsanā tadvat anabhyāsāt na jāyate
7. yadvat dūragatam vastu ādarśe na pratibimbati,
tadvat padārthavāsanā anabhyāsāt na jāyate
7. Just as a distant object is not reflected in a mirror, similarly, the latent impressions (vāsanā) of worldly objects do not arise without proper practice.
