योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-31, verse-27

यथासंभवशास्त्रार्थलोकाचारानुवृत्तिमान् ।
युध्यते तादृशश्चैव भक्तः शूरः स उच्यते ॥ २७ ॥

27. yaḥ yathāsaṃbhavaśāstrārthalokācārānuvṛttimān yudhyate,
saḥ tādṛśaḥ eva bhaktaḥ śūraḥ ca ucyate.

27. Such a one who fights, diligently adhering to scriptural injunctions and local customs as much as possible, is called a devoted (bhakta) hero (śūra).
