योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-31, verse-30

प्रजोपद्रवनिष्ठस्य राज्ञोऽराज्ञोऽथ वा प्रभोः ।
अर्थेन ये मृता युद्धे ते वै निरयगामिनः ॥ ३० ॥
prajopadravaniṣṭhasya rājño'rājño'tha vā prabhoḥ ,
arthena ye mṛtā yuddhe te vai nirayagāminaḥ 30
30. praja-upadrava-niṣṭhasya rājñaḥ arājñaḥ atha vā
prabhoḥ arthena ye mṛtāḥ yuddhe te vai niraya-gāminaḥ
30. praja-upadrava-niṣṭhasya rājñaḥ arājñaḥ vā prabhoḥ arthena ye yuddhe mṛtāḥ,
te vai niraya-gāminaḥ (bhavanti).
30. Those who die in battle for the sake of the wealth of a ruler (rājā) – or even a non-ruler or any lord – who is intent on oppressing the populace, they indeed go to hell.
