तृष्णानदी सारतरप्रवाहग्रस्ताखिलानन्तपदार्थजाता ।
तटस्थसंतोषसुवृक्षमूलनिकाषदक्षा वहतीह लोके ॥ ५ ॥

5. Here in the world, the river of desire (tṛṣṇā) flows, whose entire infinite array of created things is swallowed by its powerful current, and which is adept at eroding the roots of the good tree of contentment (saṃtoṣa) that stands on its banks.
