वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-3, verse-9

तस्याश्रमपदस्थस्य बुद्धिर्जज्ञे महात्मनः ।
चरिष्ये नियतो धर्मं धर्मो हि परमा गतिः ॥९॥
9. tasyāśramapadasthasya buddhirjajñe mahātmanaḥ ,
cariṣye niyato dharmaṃ dharmo hi paramā gatiḥ.
9. tasya āśramapadasthasya buddhiḥ jajñe mahātmanaḥ
cariṣye niyataḥ dharmam dharmaḥ hi paramā gatiḥ
9. While he was residing in that hermitage, the great-souled one (mahātman) conceived this thought: "I shall steadfastly observe my intrinsic nature (dharma), for intrinsic nature (dharma) is indeed the supreme path."
