वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-37, verse-20

धर्ममर्थं च कामं च काले यस्तु निषेवते ।
विभज्य सततं वीर स राजा हरिसत्तम ॥२०॥
20. dharmamarthaṃ ca kāmaṃ ca kāle yastu niṣevate ,
vibhajya satataṃ vīra sa rājā harisattama.
20. dharmam artham ca kāmam ca kāle yaḥ tu niṣevate
vibhajya satatam vīra saḥ rājā harisattama
20. vīra harisattama yaḥ tu dharmam ca artham ca
kāmam ca satatam kāle vibhajya niṣevate saḥ rājā
20. O hero, best of monkeys, he who constantly cultivates natural law (dharma), prosperity, and pleasure (kāma) at appropriate times, having judiciously distributed them, he alone is a true king.
