वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-102, verse-2

इमां लोकसमुत्पत्तिं लोकनाथ निबोध मे ।
सर्वं सलिलमेवासीत् पृथिवी यत्र निर्मिता ।
ततः समभवद्ब्रह्मा स्वयम्भूर्दैवतैः सह ॥२॥
2. imāṃ lokasamutpattiṃ lokanātha nibodha me ,
sarvaṃ salilamevāsīt pṛthivī yatra nirmitā ,
tataḥ samabhavadbrahmā svayambhūrdaivataiḥ saha.

2. O Lord of the world, learn from me this creation of the world. Everything was solely water, where the earth was formed. Thence, the self-born (svayambhū) Brahma appeared, along with the gods.
