महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-65, verse-19

गजस्कन्धगतानां च पुरुषाणां किरीटिना ।
आच्छिद्यन्तोत्तमाङ्गानि भल्लैः संनतपर्वभिः ॥१९॥
19. gajaskandhagatānāṁ ca puruṣāṇāṁ kirīṭinā ,
ācchidyantottamāṅgāni bhallaiḥ saṁnataparvabhiḥ.

19. And the crowned one (Arjuna), using lances with bent shafts, was cutting off the heads (uttamāṅgāni) of the men who were mounted on the shoulders of elephants.
