महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-1, verse-25

शून्यासीत्पृथिवी सर्वा बालवृद्धावशेषिता ।
तेन सेनासमूहेन समानीतेन कौरवैः ॥२५॥
25. śūnyāsītpṛthivī sarvā bālavṛddhāvaśeṣitā ,
tena senāsamūhena samānītena kauravaiḥ.

25. The entire earth became deserted, with only children and the elderly remaining, due to that vast army assembled by the Kauravas.
