महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-299, verse-18

विष्णुना वसता चापि गृहे दशरथस्य वै ।
दशग्रीवो हतश्छन्नं संयुगे भीमकर्मणा ॥१८॥
18. viṣṇunā vasatā cāpi gṛhe daśarathasya vai ,
daśagrīvo hataśchannaṁ saṁyuge bhīmakarmaṇā.

daśagrīvaḥ hataḥ channam saṃyuge bhīmakarmaṇā
18. Indeed, Daśagrīva was secretly killed in battle by Viṣṇu, who performed formidable deeds while dwelling in Daśaratha's house.
