महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-148, verse-28

पापमाचक्षते नित्यं हृदयं पापकर्मिणाम् ।
ज्ञानपूर्वं विनश्यन्ति गूहमाना महाजने ॥२८॥
28. pāpamācakṣate nityaṁ hṛdayaṁ pāpakarmiṇām ,
jñānapūrvaṁ vinaśyanti gūhamānā mahājane.

28. The heart of evildoers is always declared to be sin. Those who hide themselves among the public knowingly perish.
