महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-259, verse-22

पद्मं श्मशानादादत्ते पिशाचाच्चापि दैवतम् ।
तेषु यः समयं कुर्यादज्ञेषु हतबुद्धिषु ॥२२॥
22. padmaṁ śmaśānādādatte piśācāccāpi daivatam ,
teṣu yaḥ samayaṁ kuryādajñeṣu hatabuddhiṣu.

22. One can indeed pick a lotus from a cremation ground, and even a deity can be taken from a ghoul. However, whoever would form an alliance with those who are ignorant and whose intellects are corrupted [would be unwise].
