द्रौपद्युवाच ।
द्रोणपुत्रस्य सहजो मणिः शिरसि मे श्रुतः ।
निहत्य संख्ये तं पापं पश्येयं मणिमाहृतम् ।
राजञ्शिरसि तं कृत्वा जीवेयमिति मे मतिः ॥२०॥

20. draupadyuvāca ,
droṇaputrasya sahajo maṇiḥ śirasi me śrutaḥ ,
nihatya saṁkhye taṁ pāpaṁ paśyeyaṁ maṇimāhṛtam ,
rājañśirasi taṁ kṛtvā jīveyamiti me matiḥ.

draupadī uvāca: "me śrutaḥ (yat) droṇaputrasya sahajaḥ maṇiḥ śirasi (asti).
saṃkhye tam pāpam nihatya,
āhṛtam maṇim paśyeyam.
rājan,
tam śirasi kṛtvā jīveyam iti me matiḥ.

Draupadī replied: "I have heard that the son of Droṇa (Aśvatthāman) has an inherent gem (maṇi) on his head. Having slain that sinner in battle, I wish to see the gem brought here. O King, it is my resolve (mati) that I would live by placing that (gem) on my head."
