योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-95, verse-30

यदैव हि मनस्तत्त्वमुत्थितं ब्रह्मणः पदात् ।
तदैव कर्म जन्तूनां जीवो देहतया स्थितः ॥ ३० ॥
yadaiva hi manastattvamutthitaṃ brahmaṇaḥ padāt ,
tadaiva karma jantūnāṃ jīvo dehatayā sthitaḥ 30
30. yadā eva hi manas tattvam utthitam brahmaṇaḥ padāt
tadā eva karma jantūnām jīvaḥ dehatayā sthitaḥ
30. yadā eva hi manas tattvam brahmaṇaḥ padāt utthitam
tadā eva jantūnām karma jīvaḥ dehatayā sthitaḥ
30. Indeed, when the principle of mind (manas-tattva) arose from the plane of brahman, then indeed actions (karma) for living beings (jantū) and the individual soul (jīva) became established in the form of a body.
