वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-68, verse-5

यत्त्वया हीदृशं पापं कृतं घोरेण कर्मणा ।
सर्वलोकप्रियं हित्वा ममाप्यापादितं भयम् ॥५॥
5. yattvayā hīdṛśaṃ pāpaṃ kṛtaṃ ghoreṇa karmaṇā ,
sarvalokapriyaṃ hitvā mamāpyāpāditaṃ bhayam.
5. yat tvayā hi īdṛśam pāpam kṛtam ghoreṇa karmaṇā
sarvalokapriyam hitvā mama api āpāditam bhayam
5. yat hi īdṛśam pāpam tvayā ghoreṇa karmaṇā kṛtam,

5. Indeed, such a dreadful sin has been committed by you through a terrible action (karma). By abandoning him who is dear to all people, you have also caused me fear.
